OTAKU ARMY
  Introduction

The Otaku Army (or Otaku) is a participation based game/achievement system at 5"x7.5". It allows you to earn monthly rewards for doing things you would probably do anyway - such as donating, trading and mastering card sets - but by fitting them to a theme. Like any other game, it is optional.

Otaku operates on a military theme with two possible career paths: Enlisted and Commissioned. If you choose to join, you start out as a No0b and climb the ranks as you complete Otaku Cards, earning yourself a better monthly wage. Every card you complete will be dedicated to - or themed around - a card set here at 5"x7.5". In this respect, it's a way of collecting a set even after you've mastered it.

In addition to this, as your Otaku rank increases you will gain the opportunity to take part in extra missions to earn medals and special rewards.

To complete each Otaku card a number of tasks must be completed. The tasks depend on which 'path' you choose to take as an Otaku, although some are common to both. Several tasks can be done at any time - for example, you can master the card set for your Otaku card either whilst your card is active (meaning that it's the card you're listed in the Hall of Fans as working on) or beforehand. So don't worry, if you've already mastered it you don't have to master it again! However, other tasks can only be done whilst your card is active. So, if you donated a master badge for the set for your Otaku card before you activated your card you'll need to donate another one for it to count.

Whilst neither path is easy, the Enlisted Path does have less task requirements for completion. It also doesn't require you to make any graphics or donations. The Commissioned Path, by comparison, has more tasks and does require active participation in both contests and donations. To make up for this, the rewards available from the Commissioned Path are greater.

You can change your career path at any time - however, you will have to start at the lowest rank of the path you change to and will lose any rank or wage you may have already earned. In addition, you may not complete the same Otaku card on both career paths.

Collect all 6 stickers for that set
Stickers are randomly inserted into packs at a ratio of roughly 1 in every 2 packs (about the same as rare cards). Otaku stickers can be traded with other members but do not count as trades towards your trade count. It is also possible to swap stickers using the form in the Otaku Stickers section.

Collect two matching cakes

Cakes are won by playing The Cake Stealer. There are three different types of cake with a different cake being available every week making it possible to collect one set of matching cakes in one month, three sets in two months & etc. Cakes cannot be traded with other members. Only one set (that is, two cakes of the same colour) is needed - they can be any of the three kinds.

Remove two packs from your pack count. Make sure to note in your trade/game log that you have done so. Packs are not refundable.

To be completed whilst the Otaku card is active

Complete 50 trades
Trade 50 times (with each card counting as a separate trade) during the time your card is active. Trades made before you activate your Otaku card cannot be counted towards this.

Otaku sticker trades do not count towards this.

Donate a level badge set themed to the set
The set can be for the series or for a character(s) or place(s) etc. from that series but the badge set must be in the correct media for that set - eg. anime Gundam Wing images for the Mobile Suit set. Any badge sets you may have donated before you activate your Otaku card do not count - you can make more than one badge set for a series.

Donate a master badge for the set
Again, any badges you may have donated before you activated your Otaku card do not count. All badges must be in the correct media and follow all donation rules as given on the donation page.

Enter a cardmaker or themed card set
Either send in an image for one of the themed card sets or make a cardmaker card and enter it. Your image/card does not have to make it into the completed set for it to count. Any images sent or cards you may have made before you activate your Otaku card do not count.

Enter a cardmaker contest
Your card can be entered in any of the cardmaker contests. You only need to enter, not win, the contest for it to count. Any cards you made before you activated your Otaku card do not count.

Place (winner, 1st, 2nd or 3rd) in one of the monthly contests
This can be in any of the contests and only needs to be done once during the time your card is active.

After you complete your first Otaku card - and stop being a No0b - you are entitled to draw a monthly wage from the Hall of Fans. Every subsequent Otaku card you complete will increase not only your rank but also the wage that you can draw.

The ranks and wages for each number of completed Otaku cards are as follows:
